Email Your Likely Voters

Constituent Cloud to email your voters, contributors and volunteers. An email list that is not linked to your voter list has questionable value; whereas the value of an email list of your likely voters is unquestionable.

There are two primary components to Constituent Cloud's campaign software Emails tab – the Email Detail and Email Message. In the Email Detail you can set when and who the Email Message is sent to. Constituent Cloud provides an example email that is useful as a starting point. The simplest way to create and send an email is to click the Duplicate link beside the Example Email Detail.

From within the duplicate email pop-up, name the Email Detail to help you keep organized, set the date and time that you would like to send the email and select who it is sent to. The Test Grouping helps you fine tune your email content and format by allowing you to send the email to yourself before sending it to Everyone.

Now let's create the Email Message. You could create the message from scratch, but the simplest method is to duplicate the Example Email Message.

The Email Message Name is to help you keep track of your messages. Here you can edit the Subject of the email. Click in the body of the email to edit the message. The tools here can help you make your emails look like your website, using graphics and website design elements. But note that the simpler your email is, the more likely it will be read. Short emails with no graphics get read the most. After editing the message – click the Save button to save the Email Message. And click Save again to save the Email Details.

Click the Send Test button. Check the email you want to send as a test, and click the Send button.

When an email recipient clicks on a link in the email message, you are able to see who clicked on which links on the Results Summary page. This helps you to gauge which messages appeal to which constituents and donors.

After you are satisfied with the content click the Send Emails button, check the email you want to send and click the Send button. That's it – the email has been sent.

One common question is: where do we get the email list from? Your email list is best built with opt-in subscribers. You can lose votes by sending unwanted email – never buy an email list.

All your campaign tools should be leveraged to encourage voters and donors to sign up for email updates. Do this by asking for email addresses at your meet and greets, when visiting door to door, when calling, use your website, print ads and direct mail, Facebook and Twitter. Constituent Cloud also works with your existing website to automatically associate an email address with a voter or donor and manage your email list.
